Hertz Corporation owns Thrifty along with other brands such as Dollar Rent A Car and Hertz Rent A Car. Primarily, the company serves leisure travellers who often look for budgeted rentals from airports. Thrifty floated its first Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 1987 and grew fast after it purchased Snappy Car Rental for $40 Million in 1989.
